mercury vapor light bulb

#1 - Dispose

Items containing mercury NEVER belong in your recycling bin. A limit of five mercury vapor bulbs will be accepted in OCRRA’s free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program. Appointments are required. Onondaga County residents are welcome to make two HHW drop-off appointments annually.

OCRRA pays a flat fee per appointment, whether you bring one or multiple items. Before making an appointment, please help us keep the program free by reviewing the list of acceptable items and gathering all of your HHW materials to drop off at one appointment.

If you have more than five mercury vapor bulbs, you may inquire about fees to dispose of the additional bulbs during your appointment.

If you think you have a different type of bulb, please read the label and search our database for guidance.

Businesses are not eligible for OCRRA’s free HHW program. Businesses may contact Miller Environmental Group directly for disposal options and fees.
