#1 - Dispose

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer generated by a household can be disposed of with regular trash or through a Household Hazardous Waste drop-off program.

If doing the latter, please gather ALL the toxics you have (not just your hand sanitizer) and make an appointment to drop all your toxics off to OCRRA’s Household Hazardous Waste Program. OCRRA provides this program at no-cost to Onondaga County residents. However, we pay a flat fee for each appointment made, regardless of the amount of material dropped off. Please help OCRRA continue to provide this free service by gathering multiple household toxics to drop-off when you make an appointment.

Businesses that need guidance to properly dispose of hand sanitizer should review the DEC’s guidance.
