
Calculating Watt-Hours:
You can determine watt-hours (Wh) by reading your battery and multiplying the amp hours (AH) by the voltage (V).
In this example: 7.5AH x 56V = 420Wh

There are different ways to manage mid-format batteries, depending on the type you have. Review the information below to determine your next step. Do not store batteries for long periods of time.
Types of Mid-format batteries and drop-off options

High-energy
MORE THAN 300 Wh
These batteries are NOT accepted in OCRRA battery kiosks. Visit the Battery Network Locator page (formerly Call2Recycle); select “High-energy Batteries” and enter your ZIP code to find the closest location drop-off locations for free recycling of participating brand batteries only.

E-mobility
These batteries are NOT accepted in OCRRA battery kiosks. E-mobility batteries are found in electric bikes, electric scooters, hoverboards, etc.
E-bike Batteries
Visit the Battery Network Locator page (formerly Call2Recycle); select “E-bike Batteries” and enter your ZIP code to find the closest location for free recycling of participating brand batteries only.
- Contact the store where you bought your e-bike. Some sellers accept batteries from their customers.
Other E-mobility Batteries (Electric Scooters, Hoverboards, etc.)
- Make an appointment for OCRRA’s Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Program. OCRRA is charged a flat fee by our vendor regardless of the amount of material you bring. By gathering all of your household hazardous waste for one appointment, you help keep this program free for residents. Please review our list of acceptable items, gather all of the materials you need to get rid of and then make your appointment.
