#1 - Dispose
Takeout containers are not recyclable: even if they are plastic and have a recycle symbol / number on the bottom; even if they are paper. Most paper takeout containers have a coating or internal treatment that prevents them from leaking, so they are not recyclable. Perhaps this will change in the future as markets develop, but currently these items should go in the trash if they cannot be reused. Some restaurants will allow you to take leftovers away in a reusable container you bring in yourself, consider asking at your favorite spot!
Note: only clean and dry aluminum bowls are an exception and can be placed in a home recycling bin.
