Reusable / refillable pods are a good way to reduce waste when using individual serving coffee makers.

Coffee grounds that are removed from the k-cup container can be composted.

These items should go in the trash as they are typically made of mixed materials so they cannot be recycled; not to mention they are too small to be captured by the machinery that sorts recyclables.
