#1 - Dispose
OCRRA’s Rock Cut Road Drop-Off Site will accept up to 25 non-PCB ballasts; they must be separated from other items.
If you are a resident with a few non-PCB ballasts, which are typically labeled, you may put them in your curbside trash. Again, ONLY those that do not contain PCBs.
If ballasts are believed to contain PCBs, make a drop-off appointment through OCRRA’s Household Toxics Program for Onondaga County residents. A limit of 20 ballasts containing PCB may be dropped off per appointment.
Not sure if your ballast contains PCB? The Environmental Protection Agency offers guidance.
