OCRRA is not hosting these events or providing registrations. They are organized by the offices of local elected officials. We are sharing this information as a courtesy, to allow residents of Onondaga County to plan ahead for these free drop-off opportunities.

Please understand, some of the following events are in the early stages of planning. Registration is required for each. However, the organizers (not OCRRA) may still be finalizing details and may not have links to register yet. Continue to visit www.OCRRA.org/Events for updates. We will provide registration information once it is available for each event.

May 17, 2025: Registration is now open. This event is organized by Assemblyman Al Stirpe’s office in partnership with Empire Recycled Paint, Inc. Find more details on our events page.

Remember, paint recycling is free year-round at several locations. Interior and exterior latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based and enamel (including textured coatings), as well as primers, stains, sealers and clear coatings such as shellac and varnish, are accepted from households and businesses for recycling at no cost through the PaintCare Program. A variety of year-round drop-off locations are available in NYS.

The following paint and paint products are accepted by PaintCare:

  • Interior and exterior architectural paints: latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based, enamel (including textured coatings)
  • Deck coatings, floor paints (including elastomeric)
  • Primers, sealers, undercoaters
  • Stains
  • Shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes (single component)
  • Waterproofing concrete/masonry/wood sealers and repellents (not tar or bitumen-based)
  • Metal coatings, rust preventatives
  • Field and lawn paints

July 12, 2025: This event is currently being planned in North Syracuse by Assemblyman Al Stirpe’s office and Sunnking. A registration link is not yet available to OCRRA. Keep checking OCRRA.org/events for updates. We will share the link once it is live and shared with us!

Plan ahead. Carefully review the list of acceptable items before signing up.

  • Televisions (as well as TV set cathode ray tubes)
  • Computers
  • Computer Peripherals* (Monitors, Keyboards, a Mouse or Similar Pointing Devices, Facsimile Machines, Document Scanners, Printers)
  • Small Electronic Equipment* (tablets, VCRs, Digital Video Recorders, Portable Digital Music Players, DVD Players, Digital Converter Boxes, Cable or Satellite Receivers, Electronic or Video Game Consoles, etc.)
  • Small Scale Servers

* Computer peripherals and small electronic equipment also include any cable, cord or wiring permanently affixed to or incorporated into such product. 

Alternatively, visit OCRRA’s electronics page to find immediate options for electronics recycling. Be sure to carefully read the notes provided, as not every type of electronics is accepted at each location.

September 13, 2025: This confidential document shredding event is currently being organized by Assemblyman William Magnarelli’s office. A registration link is not available yet to OCRRA. Check our events page for updates.

September 2025 TBA: OCRRA and Reworld team up to collect mercury thermostats and thermometers for proper disposal. Items that contain mercury never belong in your curbside trash or recycling bins. WATCH or READ instructions to find out if your thermometer or thermostat contains mecury. If your therm items do NOT contain mercury, they can go in the trash.
