Energy from Trash

A WASTE-TO-ENERGY FACILITYThe local Waste-to-Energy Facility, just off of Route I-481 in Jamesville, is a key component of OCRRA’s solid waste management system.

This Facility processes all of the community’s non-recyclable trash, while also:

  • generating enough electricity for 25,000 - 30,000 households, and
  • reducing the volume of material that needs to be landfilled by 90%.

Air emissions are carefully monitored, with oversight by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, to ensure that the Facility is in complete compliance with its strict Title V Air Permit.
